The Hottest Women of Fantasy and Sci-Fi
73The Hottest Women of Fantasy and Sci Fi - Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Jessica Alba and more.
Back when I did my Scream Queens - The History of Horror Films Hub, I said that every horror movie had to have a beautiful woman in it.
Well not every sci fi and fantasy movie follows that formula, but a lot do.
I have tried to compile a list here of the hottest female stars of sci fi and fantasy (since I already did horror).
As usual, this list in not in any kind of order, so don’t get upset about who's before who.
Megan Fox
I'll spare you all the bad actress jokes and just say that Megan Fox appeared in Transformers (2007) as Mikaela Banes, reprised the role in 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, played Jennifer in Jennifer's Body (though I guess that would be more considered horror...in more ways than one) and she played Lilah in Jonah Hex (2010) which was a ...western / comic book / action / drama / thriller?
Anyway, there are rumors that she'll also be playing Aspen Matthews in the film version of Michael Turner's Fathom comic book.
If it ever gets made.
But she wasn't in Transformers 3.
Sorry.
Angelina Jolie
Another actress with movies roles that I would consider Sci fi / fantasy.
Angelina's first starring role was in the 1993 science fiction action film, Cyborg 2.
And I consider both Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life sci-fi/fantasy.
There's her role as Francesca "Franky" Cook in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow and her role as Fox in Wanted.
Yes I consider Wanted sci-fi/fantasy too
Emma Watson
Emma Watson started out at the age of nine in one of the biggest film franchises ever.
She's appeared in all six Harry Potter films so far, and is signed on for the final two.
Even though her acting roles are still somewhat limited, appearing in the first, fifth and sixth films among the top ten 30 highest-grossing films worldwide gives her quite a bit of cred.
She's so popular, that when she changed her hairstyle it caused a furor.
Jessica Alba
Jessica is no stranger to sci-fi and fantasy.
She appeared on the Nickelodeon comedy series The Secret World of Alex Mack (the title character had the power of telekinesis, could shoot electricity through her fingertips, and morph into a silver puddle), as Max in the Dark Angel TV series, in the 1999 horror comedy film Idle Hands, 2005's Sin City and she played Sue Storm / Invisible Woman in both Fantastic Four films.
Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett appeared in the 2001 film Ghost World (okay...it was based on a comic book), 2002's Eight Legged Freaks, The Island (2005), 2006's The Prestige, The Spirit (2009) and Iron Man 2 (2010).
By the way, did you know that even though The Spirit tanked bad at the box office, it's made almost $30 million on DVD and Blu-Ray?
And Scarlett will be reprising her role as the Black Widow in The Avengers.
Monica Bellucci
The gorgeous Italian actress and fashion model Monica Bellucci has done more than her fair share of sci-fi and fantasy.
She was in Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001), Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (2002, again, based on a comic book), The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions both as Persephone (2003), The Brothers Grimm (2005) and The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010) as Veronica.
Halle Berry
Actress, former fashion model, and former beauty queen Halle Berry has also had her forays into the unusual.
She appeared on the syndicated American science fiction comedy series They Came from Outer Space in 1990, The Flintstones (1994) was kind of a fantasy film, of course her role as Ororo Munroe/Storm in X-Men, X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand.
Halle also appeared in Gothika and (::sigh::) Catwoman.
Keira Knightley
You don't usually associate sci-fi and fantasy with Keira Knightley, but Keira appeared in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999), all three Pirates of the Caribbean films and King Arthur (2004).
In 2001 she was also in a TV movie called Princess of Thieves, where she played the daughter of Robin Hood.
Natalie Portman
And since we just did Keira Knightley, let's do Natalie Portman, since Keira was Amidala's decoy in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, and Natalie was Padmé Amidala in all three films.
Nice segue huh?
Besides Star Wars, she was in Mars Attacks! (1996) and she appeared in V for Vendetta (2006), Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007) and she appeared in Thor (2011) as Jane Foster.
A Quick Rant Before I Close...
And let me end part one with a quick rant.
To this day, a lot of people consider sci-fi, fantasy and to a lesser extent horror films to be the fare of geeks, nerds and little kids.
Let me point out that out of the top twenty highest grossing movies of all time, all but one have some elements of sci-fi or fantasy.
So there.

These is an incredibly beautiful group of women, and they do science fiction and fantasy proud with their efforts. (I don't blame Halle Berry for Catwoman--they gave her nothing to work with in terms of a script.....) The super-hero movies of the last ten years have offered a lot of choice roles for women that weren't previously available in abundance (i.e., the opportunity to play strong, heroic and virtuous characters rather than sex objects or victims). Once again your efforts in recognizing their work are outstanding.
Mike
Good.
I know she's older but Sigourney Weaver is still seriously hot in the Alien movies.
Ditto on Sigourney!
Beautiful hub Saberblade. Although I call all these women goddeses I have to give props to Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly because they are truly great actors as well as beautiful. I am not saying the others are bad actresses they just pale a little in comparison.
Also Liv Tyler in Lord of the Rings movie. Otherwise great hub!
I third that Sigourney needs to be on here!! Aliens is a true classix that will never be forgotten
As always it was easy to read and follow as well as beautiful to read! :) Must Face Book it! :)
