The Best Female Fighters In The History of Video Games - Tekken
78The Female Fighters of The Tekken Fighting Games
And here is the second most popular video game franchise, Tekken.
Tekken was developed and published by video game developers Namco, and was first an arcade game, but later versions came out for PlayStation, PlayStation Portable, Game Boy Advance and PlayStation 3 among others.
Though there are not as many female characters in the Tekken series as in Street Fighter, there are quite a few good ones.
So here are the women of Tekken, all the way from the original game, to Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion.
You know it's interesting to me to see the video game design and development go all the way from pixilated images, to almost like-life figures.
Nina Williams
Of course the most popular female character (characters) in Tekken is Nina Williams and her younger sister Anna Williams.
Nina was introduced as an assassin in the original game, and she is one of only four Tekken characters to appear in every game.
Nina even got her own game, Death by Degrees.
And Nina is one of the hottest women in video game history...
In 2008, the Guinness World Records Gamers Edition voted Nina the "Hottest" Female Fighting Character.
South African model and singer Candîce Hillebrand is supposed to play Nina in the (alleged) upcoming "Tekken" movie.
(I'm still not convinced that said movie isn't a hoax...see below)
Her fighting style is Koppojutsu and Aikido.
Anna Williams
And the next deadly lady is the younger sister of Nina, Anna Williams.
Anna came in at number 47 on GameDaily's top 50 hottest female characters in video game history.
In the Tekken movie, she will be played by Spanish actress Marian Zapico.
Michelle Chang
The half-Chinese half-Native American fighter from Arizona, Michelle Chang, is also the foster mother of Julia Chang.
Michelle is supposed to be played in the Tekken movie by Holly Marie Combs.
(See, this just sounds more and more unlikely)
Her fighting style is Chang Kenpo and Chinese martial arts.
Zafina
Zafina is a Middle Eastern fighter from Tekken 6 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion.
She enters The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6 to prevent the clash of the "two evil stars".
Her fighting style is Kalarippayattu.
Like some of the newer characters in Street Fighter, her video game development was inspired by outside ideas from actual players.
Asuka Kazama
Asuka Kazama first appeared in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection.
She is the cousin of Jin Kazama.
Christie Monteiro
Capoeira fighter Christie Monteiro was taught by Eddy Gordo.
In the Tekken movie, she is supposed to be played by Kelly Overton.
Ling Xiaoyu
Ling Xiaoyu was nominated in the 2005 G4 "Video Game Vixens" awards show in the category of "Baddest Good Girl".
GameDaily named Ling one of their favorite female Asian video game characters.
Well she is unique, she had a Panda as a bodyguard....
Julia Chang
The adopted daughter of Michelle Chang, Julia Chang, is not only a fighter but an archeology student as well.
In the Tekken Movie, Julia is supposed to be played by Charisma Carpenter.
Again, I just don't see it.
Jun Kazama
Jun Kazama is the mother of Jin Kazama (by Heihachi Mishima).
Jun is a psychic and a wildlife protection organization officer.
Japanese American actress Tamlyn Tomita is supposed to play the video game character in the movie.
Lili Rochefort
The only daughter of a wealthy and pacifistic oil magnate (finally a rich girl in Tekken!), Lili Rochefort first appeared in Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection.
Alisa Bosconovitch
First appearing in Tekken 6 and Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion, Alisa Bosconovitch is a robot with collapsible jet pack like wings, rockets in her feet, extendable chainsaws and detachable body parts. She is supposed to look like the daughter of Dr. Boskonovitch, Tekken's resident bio-weapons maker.
Reminds me too much of Area from Street Fighter.
Miharu Hirano
Miharu Hirano started out as an alternate costume for Ling Xiaoyu (in Tekken 4), but she is also her best friend in the video game storyline.
Jaycee
Masked luchdora Jaycee was introduced in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.
Or was she?
Yeah the character of Jaycee was...but she is closely related to a Tekken staple.
By the way, Jaycee is the third Luchador to appear in the Tekken video game franchise.
