Female Wrestling-Former TNA Knockout Hamada
71Former TNA Knockout Ayako Hamada
TNA has always seemed to me to put talent before looks in their female wrestling division, also known as The TNA Knockouts.
Many of their female wrestlers have had years of experience before they even set foot in TNA's octagonal ring.
As opposed to the OTHER wrestling promotion that seems to like to hire swimsuit models to work for them.
Recently TNA acquired Lucha Libre wrestler Sarah Stock (AKA Dark Angel) and renamed her "Sarita".
And now they have acquired another fantastic female wrestler, Ayako Hamada.
Ayako has an extensive wrestling background.
She was born Ayako Valentina Hamada Villareal on February 14th, 1981 in Mexico City Mexico.
Ayako is of mixed Japanese and Mexican descent, her father being legendary wrestler Gran Hamada (the innovator of the Hama–Chan Cutter).
Her older sister Xóchitl Guadalupe Hamada Villarreal is also a wrestler known as Xóchitl Hamada.
(Xóchitl actually had a "hair versus hair" match with Ayako back in 2000 that Ayako won.)
Not only does Ayako have the blood of Gran Hamada in her veins, but she was trained by some of the best wrestlers in the world such as her father, Aja Kong, Mariko Yoshida and Gran Apache.
Ayako's first pro wrestling match was at the age of seventeen for the Japanese wrestling promotion ARISON.
At the age of eighteen, she and Mika Akino won the Twinstar of ARSION tag belts.
Then at the age of twenty, she beat one of her mentors, Aja Kong, for the QUEEN of ARSION title.
She left ARISON in 2001 and moved around working for various Japanese and Mexican promotions such as All Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling, GAEA Japan, Grupo Internacional Revolucion, NEO Japan, Universal Wrestling Association, World Wrestling Association, Hustle and Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA).
Ayako has also held many titles during her career including the WWWA World Heavyweight Championship twice, the Twinstar of ARSION twice (once with with Mika Akino and once with Michiko Omukai), Skyhigh of ARSION and QUEEN of ARSION, the AAAW Singles Championship and the AAAW Tag Team Championship (with with Meiko Satomura), the IWRG Women's Championship, the NEO Japan Tag Team Championship (with Kaoru Itoh), the UWA World Women's Championship and the WWA World Women's Championship.
Ayako also held the P*MIX Tag Team Titles with her father, Gran Hamada. Mixed tag team matches are more common in Japan and Mexico and are not considered "gimmick" matches like they are up here. There are even titles involved with some of them such as the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship.
Ayako has signed on with TNA and they are billing her as just "Hamada".
I'm really interested to see how they handle her there and if they will do anything with her and Awesome Kong, a wrestler she has faced many times in the past.
Since TNA is bringing back the Women's Tag Team division, I'm really hoping to see Hamada and Sarita team up.
Ayako Hamada Update
After woefully under using Ayako for months (as in not hardly at all), she returned to Japan and requested her release from TNA which was granted on December 6th, 2010.
Ayako then went to work for wrestling promotions here in the States like Shimmer Women Athletes, Jersey All Pro Wrestling and Chikara.

Hamada Through The Years

I like Hamada. To me she is one of the best female wrestlers out there.
I have watched Akayo Hamada through her wrestling career and feel she is without a doubt the BEST female wrestler in the world BAR NONE. She has faced every top female wrestler in the world as well as men wrestlers which is a feat within itself and has obtained numerous women's titles to her credit. I hope and pray she stays healthy for years to come so I can enjoy her superb talents and TNA was wrong to let her go saying she was not sexy enough...shame on them. They made a HUGE mistake seeking looks over talent because every diva she met she beat and on a personal note I feel she is very sexy and has a beautiful body and face. If they kept her women's wrestling would have been brought to a new level with her years of training and wrestling expertise and increased their Cable ratings. Good luck Ms. Hamada in your present/future wrestling career and god bless you and your family.
True fan forever...Wayne Johnson
