Here is my second female MMA fighter Hub covering more of the popular female mixed martial artists.
You may or may not have heard of some of these ladies, but given the rise in popularity of female MMA, you probably soon will.
Megumi Fujii
Female MMA fighter Megumi "Mega Megu" Fujii was born on April 26th, 1974 in Okayama Prefecture, Japan.
She has black belts in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is known for her submission moves, notably the Inazuma Toe Hold submission which has been pretty much renamed "The Megulock".
Megumi has a 24-1-0 MMA record, which 18 of those wins coming from submission.
She was on a real hot streak until she ran up against Zoila Gurgel at BFC - Bellator Fighting Championships 34 and lost via split decision.
Since then she hasn't torn up the competition like she did before with her last two fights being won by decision.
Julia Budd
Female MMA fighter, fitness model and personal fitness trainer Julia "The Jewel" Budd was born on July 4th, 1983 in Roberts Creek, British Columbia, Canada.
This five foot eight, 146 pound fighter has a current MMA record of 2-2-0.
Yeah...that's 50/50.
Her last fight was a loss to Ronda Rousey via Submission (Armbar) 39 seconds into the first round at Strikeforce - Challengers 20 on November 18th, 2011.
But Julia shouldn't feel too bad, Ronda does that to everybody.
Liz Carmouche
Liz "Girl-Rilla" Carmouche was born on February 19, 1984 in either Okinawa, Japan or Lafayette, Louisiana.
This Ex-Marine (is there such a thing as an Ex-marine?) stands five foot six and weighs in at 135 pounds.
Her current MMA record is 5-2-0 with 3 of those wins coming via TKOs.
Liz's last fight was a loss to Sarah Kaufman via Unanimous Decision at Strikeforce - Challengers 17, on July 22nd, 2011 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Julie Kedzie
Julie "Fireball" Kedzie was born on March 18th, 1981 in Bloomington, Indiana and she has a current MMA record of 16-9-0.
Her first fight was a win over Terry Blair via Submission (Armbar) at HOOKnSHOOT - Live way back on March 27th, 2004.
Julie's last fight was a loss to Alexis Davis via Unanimous Decision at Strikeforce / M-1 Global - Fedor vs. Henderson on July 30, 2011 at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.
She is five foot five and weighs in at 135 pounds.
Julie was unfortunately part of the "Ultimate Women Challenge" fiasco.
Amy Davis
Like Julia Budd, Amy "Lil' Dynamite" Davis is currently 2-2-0.
She was born on December 5th, 1974 and is five foot three, 106 pounds.
Her last fight was a win over Meghan Wright via TKO (Punches) at BEP 5 - Breast Cancer Beatdown on October 1st, 2011 at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center in Fletcher, North Carolina (My home state!)
Amy also fights Muay Thai and is the US MTIA Flyweight Champion, ranked number one in the US and number two in the world with the WIKBA (Women’s International Kickboxing Association) and the WKA (World Kickboxing Association).
Tara LaRosa
The first (and last) BodogFight Women's Bantamweight Champion Tara LaRosa was born on January 8th, 1978 in Woodstown, New Jersey.
She is trained in Muay Thai, Karate, Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and made her pro debut on April 13th, 2002 with a win over the late Shelby Walker via Submission (Punches) at HOOKnSHOOT - Revolution.
Since then Tara has gone on to a 20-2-0 record.
Her latest fight was a win over Carina Damm via Submission (Inverted Heel Hook) at SF 14 - Shark Fights 14 on March 11th, 2011 at the Fair Park Coliseum in Lubbock, Texas.
Out of Tara's 20 wins, 11 have been via submission.
Alexis Davis
Female MMA fighter Alexis Davis was born on October 4th, 1984 in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada.
She is trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Japanese Jujutsu and made her MMA debut on April 7th, 2007 at UCW 7 - Anarchy .
Alexis lost that fight to Sarah Kaufman but has gone on to a 11-4-0 MMA record.
Her last fight was a win over Amanda Nunes via TKO (Punches) at Strikeforce - Barnett vs. Kharitonov on September 10th, 2011 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Emily Thompson
Emily "Timebomb" Thompson was born in Anchorage, Alaska.
She is five foot nine and weighs 140 pounds.
Emily made her MMA debut with a win over Felisha Rogers via TKO (Referee Stoppage) at AFC - Alaska Fighting Championship: At the Egan on June 22nd, 2005.
Her latest fight was a loss to Jamie Seaton via Decision (Split) at CCFC - Rush way back on July 18th, 2009.
Lisa Ellis-Ward
Lisa Ellis-Ward (formerly Lisa Ward) was born on November 15th, 1982 in Woodinville, Washington.
She is trained in Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and made her pro MMA debut on November 6th, 2004 at HOOKnSHOOT - Evolution.
Lisa has a current MMA record of 14-7-0 with her latest fight being a loss to Jessica Aguilar via Decision (Unanimous) at BFC - Bellator Fighting Championships 58 on November 19th, 2011 in Hollywood, Florida.
Zoila Gurgel
Zoila "Warrior Princess" Gurgel (formerly Zoila Frausto) is the current Bellator Women's Flyweight Champion.
She was born on December 10th, 1983 in Fresno, California and is trained in Kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai and Taekwondo.
Zoila made her MMA debut on February 13th, 2009 with a win at Wargods/Ken Shamrock Productions - The Valentine's Eve Massacre.
She has gone on to a 11-1-0 MMA record.
Her last fight was a win over Karina Hallinan via Decision (Unanimous) at BFC - Bellator Fighting Championships 35 on March 5th, 2011 in Lemoore, California.
