BoA - Boa Kwon

Beautiful Korean singer Boa Kwon was born on November 5th, 1986 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
She is usually known by her stage name BoA (Beat of Angel).

Although Boa is a Korean singer, she is equally well known in Japan, as well as most of Asia (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore).
A lot of her popularity is due to her multilingual skills. She speaks Korean, conversational English and Mandarin Chinese well enough to record songs.
She is one of the few non-Japanese Asians who have sold over a million albums in Japan.

In 2008 she released her first single in the US entitled "Eat You Up". It was released on October 21, 2008 to iTunes and other online stores.
The single itself was released on November 11, 2008 in stores.
Instead of releasing the single, the label released a promotional CD containing dance remixes of "Eat You Up". It went on to become a number-one Breakout on Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play chart.
BoA has signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), to boost her North American presence.
"BoA", her first all English album hit number 3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart.
This is the first time a Korean singer has entered the Billboard rankings.

Boa has released six Korean studio albums, starting with ID; Peace B in 2000. She has released seven Japanese studio albums, the first being Listen to My Heart in 2002.
Her first English studio album, BoA / BoA Deluxe was released in 2009.

BoA also hosted Beat it BoA's World, a radio program on the Japan FM Network from 2001 to 2007.

She has also worked as a spokesmodel, advertising for Olympus, Nike, L'Oréal, Japanese cosmetic company Kosé, Skechers and GM Daewoo.

In the Japanese release of the 2006 computer animated film, Over the Hedge, Boa provided the theme song, the theme song Key of Heart and voiced Heather the opossum in the Korean and Japanese versions.

Boa also did the ending theme for the anime InuYasha, Every Heart: Minna no Kimochi and the opening theme for the anime Monkey Typhoon, Beside You: Boku o Yobu Koe.

Boa released her seventh album in Japan, Identity, on February 10, 2010.
It was her first Japanese album that did not go to number one on the charts.

Avex released the "Woo Weekend" single on July 21st, 2010.

SM Entertainment announced on March 1st, 2010 that BoA will make a comeback in South Korea for her 10th anniversary on August 25, 2010.

BoA's sixth Korean album, "Hurricane Venus" was released on August 5, 2010.
It debuted at number one and stayed there for two weeks.

Avex also released a digital single, "I See Me" on December 8th, 2010.
The song is used in a commercial for Audio Technica headphones in Japan.

To date BoA has released fourteen studio albums and thirty-four singles.

Boa will be appearing in the Hollywood film COBU 3D along with Derek Hough (Dancing with the Stars) in early 2012.

I hate it when asians try to break into the U.S market, because it means they change their music style to appeal to Americans, their lyrics go from having meaning to become sexualised.
