Can simple sounds like Shreem, Kleem and Brzee work for attracting abundance into your life?
Some people seem to think so.
Mantras have been around for centuries, literally, but in the last few years there has been an upsurge in their popularity on the Internet.
One reason is Dr. Wayne Dyer and his "Ahhh" meditation that he uses in his books.
But the Ahhh mediation was taught to him by a man known as Dattatreya Siva Baba.
Now he hasn't always been calledDattatreya Siva Baba also known as the "YouTube Guru".
(By the way, do not confuse Dattatreya with Sathya Sai Baba, they are totally different people)
Dattatreya has been known as Baba, Siva Baba, Baba Sri Siva, Sri Siva, Brzee, Shri Guruji, Guruji and his given name, Dr. Baskaran Pillai.
Besides being a mystic (and I am NOT using that term disparagingly) Dattatreya is a very educated man.
He was a Research Fellow at the University of Madurai in India and he earned a Master's Degree in English literature and a Master of Letters in Comparative literature there.
He came to the US in 1983 and earned a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of Pittsburgh.
While Dattreya was at the University of Pittsburgh, he was the coordinator of Indian Studies within the Asian Studies Program.
He also taught several courses on Buddhist meditation and other Buddhist topics.
He was so popular with students, that there was often a waiting list for his classes.
In his YouTube videos (which you can see at his channel) Dattreya gives several basic words, seed mantras, that are supposed to increase your ability to manifest reality.
Now these are simple words opposed to long chants which I have a great deal of trouble wrapping my American tongue around.
First off, bad things happen to you because of bad karma.
(I wonder if Dattareya likes "My Name is Earl "?)
So you have to remove the bad karma.
You can do this.
Just recite the phrase (okay I lied, this is a phrase not a word), Thiru Neela Kantam.
Thiru Neela Kantam is a karma busting phrase that removes bad karma because if you have bad karma you can chant all the seed mantras you want and it wont help.
It's like building a house with a bad foundation.
When you do this, you are supposed to focus on your throat chakra.
Now there are several seed mantras that Dattatreya Siva Baba gives to attract what you want in life.
Mantras like "Shreem", "Kleem" and "Brzee".
How do these mantras work?
Well some say they are an appeal to the "Powers That Be" to help you.
(I'm saying Powers That Be because I don't have room to go into the deep, rich and varied Vedic traditions, you can spend your whole life studying that, this are the Cliff Notes)
And some say these sounds relate back to the law of attraction, and that they set up the proper sound vibration that attracts what you want into your life.
This goes back to what law of attraction practitioners say is the scientific principle of Like attracts Like.
(Although personally I was always taught the scientific principle was Opposites attract. So doesn't that mean that if I do bad, good will come to me? I've posted that question on Law of Attraction boards and people just tend to ignore it or call me names. )
You say, or meditate, on each mantra (or the one you like) at least 108 times a day. You can say it more, and yes in this case more is better.
You also think about what you want to attract while you say them.
In 30 days you should see a difference, but in some cases I have read, it can be almost instant.
Now a word of warning here, some say that you shouldn't use a mantra unless it is given to you by a Guru.
When I first read about Dattareya, one of the things about him that attracted me was he said that these mantras were hidden by the "old school" and that he was going to give them to everyone.
So I kinda pictured him as a mystical Bruce Lee, breaking the traditions and giving the knowledge freely to everyone.
Do they work?
Well, I have to admit I have had some success with them.
I've had a few things happen that seemed almost like chance was suddenly weighed in my favor.
But money hasn't fallen out of the sky...yet.
And another thing, abundance isn't always about money.
It can be health, spiritual well being, peace, you may see these things coming to you easier.
So do actual words like Shreem, Kleem and Brzee help in attracting abundance into your life, or is it just you focusing on what you want for long periods of time?

You can chant along or just listen.
The videos have been a great help to me in getting the pronunciation right and actually helping me make sure I do them 108 times.

Sabreblade, I agree to both of you, well Yes I have heard that too that mantra has to be given to you by qualified guru. I guess it is for the knowledge that people do not misuse some really good and powerful mantras to harm others. SO understanding is necessary.
On the other hand as Sabreblade mentioned that this mantra was given by Dattareya guru well then this is good and better for the mankind. The question would this mantra work if not given by a guru personally, I believe that these are so powerful mantras that chanting and the sound of these mantras chanted would certainly provide the benefit it has.
I am so glad to meet sabrebIade, I love to meet like minded people witha bit of revolution. I agree that these mantras might have been kept hidden by the royals for a reason. Guys one thing is for sure chant a mantra would certainly be better than watching today TV, media and some rubbish entertainment. GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!! we all are on the right track. This mantra has no effect unless? it has been given into the ear of the sishya by a qualified and self-realized jagat-guru. Putting the sacred bija mantras 'out there' may seem like a good thing, but it actually goes against everything sashtra has said for thousands of years.
The only reason that Hinduism has maintained its spiritual integrity is because a person must be properly educated and given jnana before mantras are given. Participating in spreading these mantras is essentially raping Hindu culture and taking something that many people hold sacred and throwing it on the ground before many other people who think bad things about it.
Sashtra proves that the naad is not effective in any way without it being given directly by a jagatguru. This is not like some of the mantras that can be repeated by anyone... bija mantras are no small matter.
The people sharing this are not part of a bona fide sampradaya. People beware.. sometimes what feels good to new ager's is adding lots of disrespect to truth.
If nothing else, repeating the Karma Buster and Shreem 108 times each reduced a lot of tension in my body and made me feel a lot more relaxed. I'm bookmarking this hub for future reference. Thanks for sharing this information. Rated up and useful.

Thank you so much for sharing your post. It came a the right time. I have experience with chanting some mantras, but I'm so glad you mentioned Karma. I question it a lot because some forms of philosophy mention that we decided our experience before coming here; for example my health challenges. At the same time there's Karma for past actions. Some say you can't erase it and some say you can. I will try these mantras for all areas in my life. I've had health challenges all of my life and definitely will try whatever I can to have a quality of life. Again...thank you.

Interesting hub. Enjoyed very much your devotion to your Mantras. Though a little surprised at your explanations.
For example "Thiru Neel Knatam" are Tamil/ Sanskrit words. Neel Kantam means one with the blue neck. Lord Shiva (a God or Devta in Hindu religion) had taken poison long time back during Samudra Manthan to save world from it, but did not allow it to go below his neck. Due to that poison in his neck, his neck is blue. Hence Neel Kantam is used as another name for Lord Shiva. Thus "Thiru Neel Kantam" just means "Respected Lord Shiva".
Recalling a god's name can always help you, of course. In this sense chanting it as a mantra may have value you describe. But knowing the meaning of words should help. Wish you and people who follow you all the good luck.
Similarly "OM Namo Bhgvad Vasu Deva" mentioned in one of the comments, just means "Oh! Lord Krishna I pray and pay my respects to you"
website coming soon.... I know the answer to Like Attracts LIke that you mention above. There are laws of physics and laws of the other energetic bodies. Just like when you go visit people's homes some of them have rules that you need to take your shoes off at the door and other people insist you leave your shoes on when you enter... Its the same with the laws of the universe. Like attracts like in physics but in chemistry opposites attract! In magnetism, opposites attract. In biology like attracts, for example put oil and water together and the oil molecules stay attracted to each other and the water molecules stay attracted to other water molecules. They don't mix well.

Ardavarz: I have found the "law of distraction" as you call it is very real. I thought I was the only one that ran up against that!
Joseph Murphy(oddly enough)actually mentions that in "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind". He says that Emile Coue called it the "law of reverse effort".
Thank you for sharing this information. I chanced upon these topics recently and it was very useful to find such a brief and informative survey about them.
As for so called "law of attraction" my experience shows that it's rather opposite. And that's the trick - if you can pretend very convincingly that you passionately want something to happen (which in fact you don't want), the universe based on the stochastic Murphy's law will make everything possible to fail you, so it's very probable that you eventually get what you really want. I call this "law of distraction" - that's because in a way you distract and swindle the Mocker (I mean that fictional bad guy behind the universe if we have to view him as personalized).
Well, one can always brainwash oneself to believe that what have happened was what had been wanted, but this attitude is too servile for my taste.
In my opinion mantras are just useful tools for manifesting trends which they symbolically represent. What we really need is energy to charge them with. And that's another tricky "secret" that is usually not widely announced.
Well, I intend to experiment a bit with this and then we'll see... (as a blind man once said).

Another great hub, I am aware of karma but I had not heard of the utube guru and I don't know much about chanting, however I have been reading up on the law of attraction and it is an interesting concept. (I'm with you on the opposites attract, science association, I think I need to do some more reading on that LOL!) Will give some chanting a go and let you know what happens.
